Ford Ranger
0 Comments

Today we celebrate a special kind of resurrection, the resurrection of a mid-size truck that once took the market by storm.

The Ford Ranger disappeared back in 2011 to our dismay, though is now back with a vengeance.

An Introduction to the Ford Ranger

Back in 1983, the market for more compact pickup trucks was growing in North America. Ford took note of that and decided to come out with the Ford Ranger. The Ranger name originated back in 1958, as it was the base-level trim name for the Edsel model range that was around from 1958 to 1981.

Tough-As-Nails Performance and Technology of the Ford Ranger

The 2019 Ford Ranger comes equipped with a 2.3L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 270 horsepower, as well as 310 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a standard ten-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel-drive, though you can opt for a four-wheel-drive version as well. The Ranger has a Terrain Management System, which has settings for gravel, grass, snow, mud, and more. It is rated to tow up to 7,500 pounds.

The Ranger comes complete with an array of driver-assistance features including blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning assist, and automated emergency braking. There is an updated Ford Sync 3 touchscreen infotainment system as well.  This makes it an incredibly user-friendly model, which is a perk for those who may not be as technologically savvy are looking for a vehicle with an easy internal system.

An Evolution of the Ford Ranger

  • First Generation Ford Ranger (1982-1992)

The first-generation Ford Ranger was made as a compact version of the F-100, and came with three different trim levels. Some of the engine choices included a V-6 and a four-cylinder diesel engine.

  • Second Generation Ford Ranger (1993-1997)

The second-generation Ranger received a smaller grille and a more aerodynamic front fascia. Some of the upgraded trims received six-disc CD changers. An Electric Ford Ranger was also released near the end of this generation.

  • Third Generation Ford Ranger (1998-2011)

The third-generation Ford Ranger offered a new Supercab model and a suicide door set up, which was the only truck to offer that at the time. Ford offered even more packages during the 2000s with upgraded entertainment and safety features.

  • Fourth Generation Ford Ranger (2019-Present)

Ford relaunched the Ranger in 2019 with a very similar look and size to the F-150. It is the most fuel-efficient in its class and has a 7,500-pound towing capacity.  The fact that it is fuel efficient can help the owner save money on gas in the long -run.

The Ford Ranger In the News

In recent Ford news, insider experts are saying that the next-generation Ford Ranger might get a few new engine options, including a V-6 and diesel engine.  This would make it much more power, and much more reliable.

Celebrity Endorsements of the Ford Ranger

There are quite a few celebrities that can be seen toughing it out in their Ford Rangers. Aussie actress Isabel Lucas has been seen driving around in her Ford Ranger. We’ve also seen Kristen Stewart driving around in her Ford Ranger.

Best Ford Ranger Groups

The Ranger Station has been one of the biggest Ford Ranger communities on the Internet since 1999. It is packed with information about all different Ford Ranger Models throughout the years.

The Ford Ranger – A Modern Classic

We’re glad that Ford decided to take the Ranger out from the ashes. Though it’s become more of a mid-size pickup truck than a compact pickup truck at this point, it is still the perfect ride for those who don’t need all that extra baggage.
