The Hyundai Elantra first entered the market back in October of 1990. It was made to replace the Stellar in many facets.

The 2020 Hyundai Elantra utilizes a 2.0L four-cylinder engine, as well as a turbocharged engine with the Eco model.   • First Generation Hyundai Elantra (1990-1995)

The first-generation Hyundai Elantra was powered using a Mitsubishi 1.6L straight-four engine that was able to output 113 horsepower. The 1992 Elantra was completely refreshed with a new grille for the European market. 

  • Second Generation Hyundai Elantra (1995-2000)

The second-generation Hyundai Elantras were offered in either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission. New grilles arrived once again for the 1998 year. A new 2.0L engine also became available.

  • Third Generation Hyundai Elantra (2000-2005)

The third-generation Elantra came out with new front airbags, power locks, air conditioning, power windows, and updated steering. The Elantra received another facelift in 2003, which provided upgrades to the steering and handling.

  • Fourth Generation Hyundai Elantra (2006-2010)

The fourth-generation Elantra provided new front and rear lights, as well as new bumpers and an updated grille. The dashboard was redesigned with a more modern interface, and the suspension was fine-tuned. Some new features included leather seats, a small lip spoiler, and alloy wheels. A four-door touring variant was also introduced.

  • Fifth Generation Hyundai Elantra (2010-2015)
