A History of the Lincoln K Convertible Roadster
The first Lincoln K models rolled off factory lines in 1931 and were in production until 1940. The idea was to create a luxury car that could compete against other luxury cars of the time, including the Chrysler Imperial and Cadillac V-12. It was also the first car to drive across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Technology and Innovations of the Lincoln K Convertible Roadster
The last iteration of the Model K used 6.8L V-12 engines. There were two different Model K models including the touring car based on the LeBaron and a Brunn sedan, known as the “Sunshine Special”, that was created to transport Roosevelt.
A Timeline of the Lincoln K Convertible Roadster (1931-1940)
The 1931 model came in either a two or four-door phaeton designs, as well as a dual-cowl design. The 6.3L engine was similar to the L-Series 60-degree V-8. The car was split into KA and KB models by 1932 and was then trimmed back in 1935. By the end of production, the car featured an updated grille and front fascia.
