A Speedy History of the Aprilia RSV 1000R

The Aprilia RSV 1000R was a sportbike motorcycle that was introduced to the world in 2004 by the Italian Aprilia company. It had a six-year run before it was cut from production in 2010. The bike was a redesign of its predecessor, which was known as the Aprilia RSV Mille. The “R” version signified the fact that it had higher specs than the other versions that it was launched with.

Technology and Innovations of the Aprilia RSV 1000R

The last iteration of the Aprilia RSV 1000R used a V-twin engine with a small 70-degree angle in-between the dry sump and the cylinders, ensuring continuous lubrication over time. The bike sports a narrow and tall riding position. At just around 200kg, the bike was far lighter than its rivals of the time too, such as the Ducati 916. Overall, the bike could produce a top speed of 172 mph.

The Aprilia RSV 1000R Over Time (2004-2010)

The Aprilia RSV 1000R was only around for one generation and there were no major changes over time. Aprilia did, however, release a few different iterations of the bike with different specs. The RSV 1000 R factory was made with adjustable Ohlins Racing suspension, as well as blue anodized forged aluminum wheels.

The RSV 1000 R Nera was another version of the standard bike. It came with carbon fiber body panels, full titanium exhaust, magnesium wheels, and other lightweight parts, helping to reduce the overall weight of the bike to around 175kg. The V-twin magnesium engine was upgraded as well. Only 200 of these were ever made.
