Though it may be one of the smallest SUVs in the long line of Audi SUVs, it has one of the biggest personalities of all. From the luxurious build to the tech-savvy design, it is an SUV that has helped to bring Audi into the modern age. With a small crossover design that provides drivers with both speed and storage, it is a “best of both worlds” kind of automobile.

A Brief History of the Audi Q3

The history of the Audi Q3 dates back to 2006 when Julian Hoenig designed the 8U concept crossover. This concept Q3 included a four-cylinder 2.0 TDI engine and the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. It wasn’t until 2011 that the production version of the Q3 hit the market after it was unveiled at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show.

Exceeding All Expectations – Design and Technology of the Audi Q3

The 2019 Audi Q3 is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 228 horsepower. This is paired with Audi’s eight-speed automatic transmission and the iconic Quattro all-wheel-drive.

Inside the cabin, you get a standard leather interior and faux-suede inserts on the dashboard. You can choose between an 8.8” or 10.1” touchscreen infotainment system, and a digital gauge cluster is optional. You can expect a whole load of driver-assistance features as well, including automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Two Generations of the Audi Q3

  • First Generation Audi Q3 (2011-2018)

The Q3 first unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show back in 2011 and was based on the VW A5 platform. The earliest models included the 2.0 TFSI Quattro, the 2.0 TDI, and the 2.0 TDI Quattro. By 2014, the crossover received a minor facelift, which made the grille a bit wider and enlarged the air vents. The engine was improved as well.

By 2017, the car received a brand new front with a single-frame grille.

  • Second Generation Audi Q3 (2018-Present)

By 2018, the second-generation Audi Q3 hit the market. It came with new LED technology and four different engines, including three gas engines and one diesel engine. The new sporty design was matched by the seven-speed S-Tronic transmission.

The Audi Q3 In the News

Celebrity Endorsements of the Audi Q3

Audi is a big name with celebrities, though it seems that the Q3 might be too practical a car for A-list celebrities to drive around in. One celebrity that we’ve been able to find who absolutely loves her Q3 is actress Sila Sahin.
