When it comes to hauling the family around, Dodge probably isn’t the first car manufacturer to come to mind.

With that said, their Grand Caravan has somehow continued to stick around for the past few decades as one of the more popular minivans. It may not be anything incredibly special, though with an insanely affordable price compared to others in its class, it is a family favorite.

Dodge Grand Caravan Background

When 1977 was coming to an end, Chrysler began developing their own minivans. They wanted to create a vehicle with front-wheel-drive, a low floor that matched smaller cars, and a big interior space to fit the whole family. Though they finally slated the Dodge Caravan for the 1982 year, it wasn’t until 1984 that it hit the market.

A Capable and Flexible Machine – The Technology of the Dodge Grand Caravan

The 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan uses a V-6 engine that puts out 283 horsepower. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and a well-weighted steering system, which is just about the only thing that gives the driver a more engaging experience.

The Grand Caravan offers plenty of space on the inside, as well as some standard features, such as a 6.5” infotainment screen, underfloor storage bins, and folded seats. Some of the top safety features on the Grand Caravan include standard seven airbags and traction/stability control.
