The Ford Edge is like the Goldilocks of the Ford SUV lineup, just in-between the Escape and the Explorer.

For years and years, Ford was banking on their truck-based SUVs. It wasn’t until the Edge entered the market that Ford finally had a proper crossover to battle with.

The Foundation of the Ford Edge

The Ford Edge first hit the market back in 2006 when it debuted at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show. A year later in 2007, the crossover went into production.

The OG Crossover – Technology and Performance of the Ford Edge

The 2019 Ford Edge has a base turbocharged four-cylinder engine that provides the crossover with 250 horsepower. Upgrade to the higher trim and you can get a twin-turbocharged 2.7L V-7 engine that puts out 335 horsepower with its standard all-wheel-drive.

The inside is very spacious yet understated. It comes with a standard Wi-Fi hotspot for smartphone addicts as well. The Edge utilizes Ford’s Sync 3 Infotainment System, and at the top trim, provides drivers with an 8.0” touchscreen. The infotainment system works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are a few driver-assistance features as well, including automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist.
